The Crucible by Arthur Miller.

The Crucible – By Arthur Miller

Presented by MCHS Theater & Madison Theatre.
(This production will feature MCHS students and community members of all ages.)

Synopsis:
The Crucible is set in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692, amid the chaos of the infamous witch trials. After the Reverend Samuel Parris catches his daughter, Betty, dancing with her friends in the woods, she faints and becomes deathly ill. Meanwhile, the Reverend’s niece, Abigail, has had an affair with John Proctor, a farmer. When he refuses to confess his love for her, Abigail tells the authorities that the girls, including John’s wife, were performing witchcraft. Given the moral climate of the time, it seems someone has to be found guilty of witchcraft, even though firm evidence of wrongdoing is becoming hard to come by. Don’t miss this gripping tale by Arthur Miller recounting the events surrounding the Salem Witch Trials.

A Year with Frog & Toad performance

A Year with Frog and Toad – a musical written
by brothers Robert & Willie Reale

Presented by MCHS Theater & Madison Theatre.
(This production will feature MCHS students and community members of all ages.)

Synopsis:
The beloved characters created by children’s book author Arnold Lobel go through a year of adventures, encountering whimsical creatures and deepening their own friendship. This whimsical musical follows two great friends — the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad — through four, fun-filled seasons.

Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding, and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in their differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make believe, all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures, weathering all seasons. The jazzy, upbeat music bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant, and enchanting musical for the whole family.

Shrek the Musical

Shrek the Musical

Presented by MCHS Theater & Madison Theatre.
(This production will feature MCHS students and community members of all ages.)

Synopsis:
Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets?

Based on the contemporary fairy-tale book and the animated film it inspired, Shrek the Musical uses an all-new score to expand on the movie’s original story. (You get to know Shrek as a kid, for instance.) There’s a lot for the eyes and ears to ogle over. A must see!
